Silence is not a typical horror movie, but it feels terrifying in a very quiet and heavy way. It follows two Jesuit priests in 17th-century Japan who go looking for their missing mentor while also trying to spread Christianity in a place where it is violently suppressed. The film is slow, intense, and very emotional. Instead of jump scares or monsters, the horror here comes from suffering, doubt, and the feeling of being completely alone in your beliefs. Andrew Garfield gives a deeply emotional performance, and you really feel the weight of his internal struggle as the story progresses. What makes Silence stand out is how it challenges faith and conviction in a way that feels uncomfortable but honest. It does not try to give easy answers, and that is what makes it stick with you. Some people may find it too slow or too long, but if you are patient, it pays off with powerful moments that hit emotionally rather than visually. It is less about entertainment and more about reflection, suffering, and what people believe when everything around them is taken away.
